Exodus: The God who makes Himself known

Description

After Joseph's death, Israel was oppressed and eventually enslaved by the Egyptians.

In the book of Exodus, God sent Moses to have Pharaoh let Israel go, so that Israel could serve Him. But Pharaoh refused. The ruler of the most powerful kingdom at that time challenged God to a fight.

But the ensuing events were entirely one-sided. The Ten Plagues devastated the Egyptians, but passed over the Israelites; Israel crossed the Red Sea on dry land, but its waters swallowed their Egyptian pursuers. God secured Israel's deliverance from slavery under Egyptian rule.

You see, despite Moses's starring role in these events, the true hero of Exodus was God all along – He who graciously revealed Himself to His people and orchestrated their rescue as part of His big plan to save a people for Himself.
